Violins ($3,500-$10,000)

  1. Albert Harper made in 1909. A very good American violin made in Spokane, WA and made with quality woods that were locally used by the maker. Albert had a good eye and exercised disciplined craftsmanship without too much independent "flamboyancy". Many American makers of the 20th century have been criticized for their unnecessary, flamboyant craftsmanship, but Mr. Harper avoided the temptation of exercising such independent tendencies. His varnish is a beautifully transparent golden-brown color. This violin is in excellent condition having only one, small repaired wing crack. LOB: 355mm $4,000

Violins ($10,000-$20,000)

  2. Robert D. Kimble: Made in 1995. A very good modern American violin made in Atlanta, GA. The violin, No. 48, is also internally stamped: "R.D. Kimble" below the original label and on the inside of the top plate. Very good attention to detail. Good craftsmanship throughout. Pattern based upon Stradivari. Varnish of a thick but transparent golden-brown color. This violin is in nearly mint condition! Also has a very mature, aged sound for a modern violin. One-piece back. LOB: 356mm. Asking price is $10K, but negotiable.
